The traditional tribal design features a lattice of large linked diamonds outlined in beige, about three across and five down the rust field. Each diamond holds a smaller stepped diamond, and rows of small diamonds and stepped motifs run along the sides. A rust border with small cream and pale turquoise motifs frames the field, with narrow patterned bands at each end.

Rust red and terracotta establish the principal colour, forming the ground of both the field and the border. Cream and beige give the main contrast, outlining the linked diamonds and lighting up the centre of the rug. Peach adds soft warmth inside the motifs, while pale turquoise, soft grey and muted lavender accents bring cool, gentle variation.

Handmade in Afghanistan from wool, the traditional flatweave construction highlights the natural texture and tonal variation of the yarn.
