Measuring 296cm x 203cm, this Afghan flatweave wool rug features an earthy combination of cream and ivory, rust and terracotta, sage green, muted blue-grey, beige, soft peach, dusty pink, mauve, taupe and touches of dark brown.
The geometric tribal design is arranged in an all-over diamond and lozenge lattice pattern, with overlapping and repeating diamonds in varying sizes extending across the central field. Smaller diamonds and geometric motifs are incorporated within the larger forms, while a substantial outer border features a strong sequence of repeating tribal diamond motifs that frame and define the composition.
Cream and ivory establish the dominant foundation, forming the light background throughout the central field and substantial outer border, balanced by rust and terracotta across the diamond outlines, border motifs and repeated geometric detailing. Sage green, muted blue-grey and beige introduce softened earthy colour, while peach, dusty pink, mauve, taupe and touches of dark brown provide additional warmth and depth. This restrained earth-tone palette pairs naturally with timber, leather, linen, stone, woven fibres and other neutral furnishings.
Made in Afghanistan from wool, the rug uses traditional flatweave construction to create the distinctive woven texture and low-profile finish associated with kilim rugs.
