A striking handmade Persian Tabriz rug featuring a large, ornate cream and red central medallion set against a richly patterned navy field. The surrounding field is densely decorated with stylised floral, geometric and traditional Persian motifs, while a prominent red floral border creates a bold frame around the composition.

Deep navy blue dominates the expansive field, complemented by rich red and softer cream and ivory tones throughout the central medallion and border. Smaller details in light blue, teal, olive, gold, tan and brown add further depth and intricacy to the traditional palette. Handmade in Iran with a wool pile on a cotton foundation, this approximately 50-year-old Persian rug has an authentic time-worn character that reflects its age, traditional craftsmanship and history.

Measuring approximately 399 × 288cm, this is a substantial statement rug particularly well suited to a formal living room or large lounge. A three-seater sofa positioned at the rear with two occasional chairs to the sides would allow the central medallion and generous areas of the decorative field to remain visible. Age, Condition & Refurbishment

The appeal of these older handmade rugs lies in their authentic aged character. Unlike a new rug, each piece carries the natural characteristics of decades of use, including areas of wear, variations in colour and texture, fading and other signs of age.
