Measuring 290cm x 79cm, this handmade flatweave wool runner combines rich rust and terracotta with warm beige and cream, complemented by muted blue, slate blue, sage green, taupe, peach, apricot, mustard, ochre, soft grey and brown accents.
The traditional tribal design features repeating rows of stepped diamond and lozenge motifs extending along the length of the runner. Smaller geometric forms add intricate detail between the principal motifs, while narrow patterned borders frame the composition and create a structured, rhythmic appearance characteristic of traditional tribal flatweave designs.
Rust and warm terracotta establish the principal colour framework, appearing prominently throughout the repeating geometric motifs and outer edges. Beige and cream provide the softer contrasting ground and cover a substantial portion of the design. Muted blue and slate blue introduce cooler tonal variation, while sage green, taupe, peach, apricot, mustard and ochre contribute layers of earthy colour. Soft grey and brown accents provide additional definition throughout the geometric detailing.
Handmade in Afghanistan from wool, the traditional flatweave construction highlights the natural texture and tonal variation of the yarn.
