Bring warm colour and strong pattern into your interior with this Rust & Ivory Geometric Tribal Diamond Kilim Rug from the Anatolian Collection. Measuring 391cm x 314cm, this handmade flatweave wool rug combines rust red and terracotta with ivory, sage green, turquoise blue and lavender purple, complemented by beige, navy blue and burnt orange accents.
The traditional tribal design features three vertical columns of linked stepped diamonds set on a rust red field. Each diamond is outlined in ivory with hooked, comb-like edges and holds smaller stepped motifs in blue, lavender and teal. An ivory frame surrounds the field, followed by several multicoloured borders with zigzag and small geometric motifs, and a dark navy outer edge.
Rust red and terracotta establish the principal colour, forming the ground of the central field. Ivory provides the strongest contrast, defining the hooked outlines of the diamonds and the frame around the field. Turquoise blue and lavender purple bring cool colour into the motifs, while sage green adds a soft, natural note in the borders. Beige, navy blue and burnt orange accents give further depth and definition.
Handmade in Afghanistan from wool, the traditional flatweave construction highlights the natural texture and tonal variation of the yarn. The linked hooked diamonds, stepped inner motifs and layered borders reflect the decorative traditions associated with Afghan kilim weaving, giving the rug a rich handcrafted character.
At 391cm x 314cm, this generously sized kilim is ideally sized for large living rooms, where a full lounge suite can sit on the rug, or for a dining room with a table for eight.
