Measuring 153cm x 98cm, this handmade wool rug combines deep terracotta red with burnt orange, complemented by teal green, mid blue, brown, mustard gold, peach and cream accents.

Inspired by traditional saddlebag weavings, the Khorjeen design is arranged in horizontal bands across the width of the rug. Three wider ornamental bands, one near each end and one through the centre, carry rows of geometric star and cross motifs on a deep red ground. Between them, multicoloured stripes of varying width create a relaxed, layered rhythm, with narrow rows of small tribal motifs adding finer detail.

Deep terracotta red establishes the principal colour, forming the ground of the ornamental bands and many of the stripes. Burnt orange provides warm tonal contrast throughout the striped sections. Teal green and mid blue introduce cooler bands of colour, while brown and mustard gold add depth. Peach and cream accents lighten the motifs and highlight the geometric detail.

Handmade in Afghanistan with a wool pile on a cotton foundation, the rug shows natural tonal variation in the wool, most visible in the softly shaded teal and blue stripes. A narrow flatwoven band and a cream cotton fringe finish each short end.
