Bring vibrant warm colour and traditional geometric character into your interior with this Rust & Orange Geometric Tribal Diamond Kilim Rug from the Anatolian Collection. Measuring 256cm x 175cm, this handmade flatweave wool rug combines rich rust red and burnt orange with olive green and soft cream, complemented by sky blue, golden yellow, charcoal grey and terracotta accents.
The traditional tribal design features vertical columns of nested stepped diamonds running the length of the central field, each diamond outlined in contrasting bands of colour. A wide border of hooked and stepped motifs in orange and golden yellow frames the field, while a narrow outer border of small geometric forms in rust and cream completes the composition.
Rust red establishes the principal colour, forming the outer border and much of the diamond framework. Burnt orange and golden yellow bring warmth to the main border and the diamond outlines, while olive green provides a muted ground between the motifs. Soft cream and sky blue highlight the centres of many diamonds, and charcoal grey and terracotta accents add depth and definition throughout the geometric detailing.
Handmade in Afghanistan from wool, the traditional flatweave construction highlights the natural texture and tonal variation of the yarn. The columns of nested diamonds and the hooked border motifs reflect the geometric traditions associated with Afghan kilim weaving, giving the rug a distinctive handcrafted character.
At 256cm x 175cm, this kilim is well suited to a living room, where it can sit beneath a 3-seater sofa with the front legs resting on the rug, or to a bedroom at the foot of a double bed.
