Rust & Slate Blue Geometric Tribal Diamond Kilim Rug Design 253 × 168 cm

Bring warm colour and traditional geometric character into your interior with this Rust & Slate Blue Geometric Tribal Diamond Kilim Rug from the Anatolian Collection. Measuring 253cm x 168cm, this handmade flatweave wool rug combines rust red and burnt orange with slate blue and cool grey, complemented by sky blue, golden yellow, turquoise and charcoal accents.

The traditional tribal design features an all-over arrangement of stepped diamonds across the central field, each diamond outlined in alternating bands of rust and blue. Small cross and hourglass motifs sit within the diamonds, while a border of hooked and stepped motifs with pale yellow corners frames the composition.

Cool slate blue and grey form the ground between the motifs, giving the rug a calm base. Rust red and burnt orange provide the main colour in the stepped diamonds and border motifs. Sky blue and turquoise appear throughout the field, while golden yellow and small charcoal accents add further detail.

Handmade in Afghanistan from wool, the traditional flatweave construction highlights the natural texture and tonal variation of the yarn. The all-over stepped diamonds and hooked border motifs are typical of the geometric patterns associated with Afghan kilim weaving, giving the rug a relaxed handcrafted character.

With its 253cm x 168cm proportions, this kilim fits comfortably in a living room beneath a 3-seater sofa with the front legs on the rug, or in a bedroom at the foot of a double bed. Its rust and slate blue palette suits Organic Bohemian and Eclectic interiors particularly well.
