Bring sophisticated neutral colour and traditional tribal character into your interior with this Grey & Ivory Tribal Medallion Kilim Rug from the Trunk Collection. Measuring 200cm x 300cm, this handmade flatweave wool rug combines stone grey and natural ivory with warm taupe, charcoal and softly layered earthy neutral tones.
The design features an open field of repeating geometric medallions arranged in evenly spaced rows. Larger stepped diamond medallions alternate with smaller geometric motifs, while hooked forms, crosses and angular tribal symbols create a balanced pattern inspired by traditional Afghan tribal weaving.
Stone grey establishes the dominant background throughout the rug, complemented by slate and charcoal-grey detailing that adds depth and definition. Natural ivory provides the principal contrast across the larger medallions and motif highlights, while warm taupe, greige, mushroom, sand and subtle camel tones soften the palette and introduce natural tonal variation.
The spacious arrangement of the motifs gives the design a lighter, more contemporary character than a densely patterned traditional kilim. Rather than featuring substantial side borders, the geometric pattern remains the focal point across the field, while narrow decorative striped bands frame the top and bottom of the composition.
Handmade in India from wool, the traditional flatweave construction highlights the natural woven texture and subtle tonal variation of the fibres. Hand-knotted fringe at both ends completes the handcrafted appearance.
